October 12th is celebrated as 'World Arthritis Day' to encourage active and healthy aging especially in people affected with Arthritis. Osteoarthritis is the most common type of arthritis seen in clinical practice and is a common cause of pain and disability in adults. It results in decreased work productivity and frequent sick days i.e. it adversely affects the Quality of Life. Knee OA has been reported as a risk factor for falls and reduced balance in the elderly. It accounts for highest medical expenses amongst all arthritis conditions. Detection of Knee OA at an early stage is very important.
